Global Markets Update

Michael FinucanWelcome to the July edition of Global markets update where we give special focus to market developments in Hong KongChinaMiddle EastUS and Indonesia.

With market access changes continuing to dominate headlines, this month’s Global wrap-up covers the key developments over the past month and the likely impacts on Australian red meat.

MLA’s International Business Management (IBM) team has had a few recent changes. Nick Meara has been appointed as the IBM in Middle East/North Africa (MENA), following his role as MLA’s Business Development Manager in MENA. David Beatty will be finishing his role in mid-July after a handover period with Nick. I would like to thank David for all his hard work over the past five years in the Middle East across both the live export and marketing programs. I also welcome Joe Zhu as the Greater China Country Manager. Joe has more than 15 years’ experience in China focused on marketing and business development in the food and beverage sectors.

Congratulations to Jack’s Creek Wagyu on winning two gold medals in the recent World Steak Challenge for ‘Best Grainfed steak’ and ‘Best Grassfed steak’. I’m not entirely sure how Jack’s Creek missed out on the top gong of ‘World’s Best Steak’ though. On the 32-member judging panel was MLA’s corporate chef, Sam Burke.

As always, you can locate market information here, or in the QUICK LINKS section at the bottom of this e-newsletter.
